In the year 2017 INTERFINi coordinated and provided support to the The East Africa Green Building Forum (EAGBF) organized by the USAID and facilitated by ICF in collaboration with the Tanzania Green Building Council, themed “Greening the Next Decade”.
The first ever East Africa Green Building Conference was conducted in the year 2015, which was opened by then Vice President of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Mohamed Gharib Bilal, which combined regional forces to address the issue of green buildings within a broad sustainability framework. Since then, green building knowledge and practice has grown substantially within the region. In this Forum, Tanzania Green Building Council at its stakeholders are back to discuss these gains, and future needs, with an even stronger line-up of speakers.
The Forum engaged the attendees in an open and constructive dialogue on real-world challenges as well as solutions that speakers faced or devised as part of actual project efforts. These leaders shared the business case for green buildings and the most promising technical and business solutions to creating a resilient and sustainable built environment within the next decade.

The Forum engaged 80 participants from over 30 companies comprises of Architects, Engineers, Building owners, Bank, private companies as well as Pension funds and the National Housing Corporation (NHC), AQRB in an open and constructive dialogue on real-world challenges as well as solutions aiming at providing a broad knowledge on the green building council energy systems to influence green construction in emerging building activities evolving in Tanzania. The Workshop built awareness among professionals and stakeholders alike to embrace and appreciate green building.
Professionals exited the Forum with a re-invigorated passion for the green building movement, as well as deeper understanding of the technologies and practices emerging in today’s markets. The Forum aims to foster the next ranks of green buildings change agents by equipping them with the latest knowledge as well as the ability to communicate the benefits and the business case for green buildings within their own organisations and across their markets.
